Pumpkin Pie Bumper in Motion - Finish

Pumpkin Pie Bumper in Motion - Finish
In this final tutorial, we will complete the Pumpkin Pie bumper project. We have animated the pumpkin pie and caramel apples using the Position and Rotation properties in the MotionR Inspector. Now we will add a colored overlay that will cover the right half of the screen and create a text area for our customer to add a text message. This could be a great bumper for a food blog.

One way to create the overlay is to use the drawing tools in Motion, as we did when we drew the background rectangle. However, time is valuable and it is just as easy to draw the graphics in Photoshop. So our first step will be to import the third PhotoshopR file containing the overlay.

As we did before, we will add a new layer in the Motion Layers pane, name it Overlay and import the Photoshop file in to this layer. We only have one layer in this file.

The last apple animation stops rotating on frame 300, so let's start animating the overlay on to the stage on frame 315.

  1. Move the Playhead to frame 315. Use the Mark In feature to remove the overlay from the Timeline for frames 0 - 314.

To start the overlay animation, we will drag the overlay to the outside of the screen on frame 315 and animated it to slide in over 30 frames. By this time, you should be a pro at this technique.

The overlay slide in animation will end on frame 345. As we set the duration for the project to 14 seconds, we have a little over 2.5 seconds left. This will give the client the option to add a text message to the bumper.

That completes the bumper project. We can now export our video bumper and submit it to Shutterstock.com. Let's export in one of their suggested formats: the .mov format and to the H.264 Codecs with the best quality setting.

  2. Click Share - Export Movie.

  3. Set the Export option to H.264.

  4. Click the Render tab and set the Render Quality to Best.

  5. Save your file to your computer.
